My Practice
In addition to my law degree, I have a bachelor’s degree in finance with a minor in accounting.
These undergraduate degrees make me especially suited to defend white collar crimes. I have also 2had many drug possession and family violence cases. I particularly enjoy defending drug possession cases where I can use my knowledge of 4th Amendment illegal search and seizure issues. In my past I have dealt with many juvenile and family law cases. Many times, clients are puzzled by the way the system works in criminal cases. Of course, I am an expert in this system, and I am always glad to explain how the system works to my clients. My clients and I really get excited when I can get the case dismissed or reduced to a much lower punishment range. Of course, the dismissals are particularly satisfying. I have had many cases dismissed over the years, last year I had about one hundred dismissed and this year, so far about fifty. I usually have about one hundred cases a year dismissed.
I always extensively interview clients first. I review the case file of what the state is claiming they did.
After reviewing the client’s version of what happened and what the state says what happened, I start my investigation of the case. I find out how this might have happened. It is important as you find out if the state is exceeding the bounds of their authority or not. If they have sufficient evidence to prove their case. After that, I push for a dismissal if the case warrants it. It is always satisfying when I can get a case dismissed. When I can’t, I always try to get the best plea offer from the state for my client. I am always straight with the client and the state. I find that gets the best results for my client. If all the Pretrial work is not successful then we are always able to go to trial to protect the rights of my clients. This is important as all of the process protects the rights of my clients. It is important to be straight with clients and I feel they choose me for that reason. I enjoy this work and find it is very fulfilling. I believe my clients see this also.
